Community Forum Brings Clarity to Local Government Roles in Central Arkansas

The Arkansas Civic Action Network hosted a community forum focused on understanding the roles and responsibilities of city, county, and neighborhood government, highlighting how many of the decisions that shape daily life are made at the local level. The event featured a panel discussion with Nathan Hamilton, North Little Rock City Council Member; Steven Person, Little Rock Planning Commission Commissioner and Pulaski County Justice of the Peace; Brittany Nichols, President of the Downtown Neighborhood Association; and Frank Gilbert, Constable for Big Rock. The evening included an overview of how local government functions, a moderated panel on practical community problem-solving, and a final segment focused on turning questions and concerns into civic action. The event was designed for residents seeking clarity on how decisions are made and how to engage more effectively at the local level.
